Race day is where months of training get distilled into seconds. The New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v6 is built to make those seconds count.

Completely refined for 2026, the SC Elite v6 is New Balance’s elite carbon-plated road racing shoe, engineered for runners chasing personal bests from the half marathon through to the marathon. It delivers the highest energy return in the SuperComp lineup, combining an entirely new superfoam with a re-engineered carbon plate to create a lighter, sharper and more propulsive racing experience. 

The biggest transformation comes from the introduction of Infinion superfoam. Tuned specifically for race-day performance, this lightweight compound delivers a combination of softness and explosive energy return designed to help you hold pace when the kilometres begin to bite. Strategic voids within the midsole work as part of New Balance’s Energy Arc system, allowing the foam and carbon plate to compress, store energy and release it back into your next stride. 

Inside that foam sits a newly engineered full-length carbon fibre plate. Rather than maintaining the same stiffness throughout, New Balance has tuned its thickness across the shoe — thinner towards the heel and progressively stiffer towards the forefoot. Why? To create a smoother transition when you land followed by a more aggressive, explosive sensation as you load the forefoot and drive into toe-off. It’s a design created not simply to feel fast, but to help make running at race pace more efficient. 

And then there’s the weight. Running Warehouse measures the men’s version at just 184g, while New Balance’s own specification varies by style at around 198g. Either way, this is an exceptionally lightweight marathon racing shoe, and the reduction is immediately relevant when you’re repeating thousands of strides over 42.2 kilometres. 

The outsole has been stripped back too. A new ultra-light racing compound places grip strategically where it’s needed, providing secure traction and efficient power transfer without unnecessary rubber adding weight. Above it, a hyper-translucent engineered mesh upper with FANTOMFIT technology creates an exceptionally light, breathable and secure race fit that holds your foot in position when the pace rises. 

With a 39mm heel, 31mm forefoot and familiar 8mm drop, the SuperComp Elite v6 provides substantial race-day protection without feeling bulky beneath your feet. More importantly, every component has a purpose: less weight, more energy return and greater propulsion.
