The Mount to Coast T1 takes the brand’s long-distance expertise off the road and into proper technical terrain.

Its LightCELL midsole uses a lightweight, nitrogen-infused foam to deliver responsive cushioning without creating a soft or unstable platform. The 36 mm heel and 32 mm forefoot provide enough protection for long trail days, while the 4 mm drop and balanced geometry keep the shoe agile over uneven ground.

Underneath, Mount to Coast combines three proven Vibram technologies. Megagrip rubber provides dependable traction across wet and dry surfaces. Litebase reduces outsole weight without sacrificing performance, while Traction Lug technology increases the gripping surface of each 4 mm lug.

The refined TUNEDFIT system separates the forefoot and midfoot lacing zones. Each can be adjusted independently, allowing you to create more space as your feet swell or increase lockdown before a technical descent.

A high-performance woven upper reinforced with aramid fibres provides durability without turning the T1 into a heavy mountain boot. Strategic padding around the heel and ankle adds comfort, while the secure construction keeps the foot controlled across changing terrain.

The Mount to Coast T1 generally fits true to size, with a comfortably accommodating forefoot and secure heel. Choose your normal UK running-shoe size.

Some runners find the shoe slightly long. If you are between sizes or prefer a close technical-trail fit, consider going half a size down.

The separate forefoot and midfoot lacing zones accommodate a wide range of foot volumes, although the system may take a few runs to dial in. Wider feet should remain true to size rather than sizing down.

The T1 is Mount to Coast’s first dedicated trail shoe, but it does not feel like a first attempt.

Compared with the H1, it adds deeper lugs, stronger technical grip and a more trail-focused upper. Against the HOKA Speedgoat, the T1 feels lighter, firmer and more agile, with considerably greater control over the fit. The Speedgoat remains the plush cruiser; the T1 is the versatile operator.
