Over the last 30 years the sport of running has taken on some major changes. Runners want to run faster, they want to run longer. The result of this desire lead to great innovation in footwear engineering to aid runners reach their running goals. Along with this came major advancements in nutrition and hydration to help your body go that extra distance. Then came all the additional gear, breathable tech tops and compression garments etc. Races changed too. 50 milers became 100 milers which are now becoming 200 milers. The only thing that didn’t change was your traditional running store.
We hated what the local runner store had become a glorified dumping ground for products. We set out to change that, by drafting big dreams in a small local coffee shop in our home town of Claremont, Cape Town. We vowed No more in-store branded marketing walls. No-more tacky in-store adverts. No more free moving stands and “Buy-Me-Now” signs. Just great product mixed with even greater people.
Our stores are about people. Yes, we have great products, but more importantly we have great people. Our people are runners. People who get you when you are taking about your next race. People who understand the frustration of an injury. People that have knowledge in deciphering the complexities of running shoes and can analyse your running gait to mak sure the shoe you select is going to help you Run 5, Then 10, then 50.
Our runner focussed philosophy and our drive to disrupt a stale and outdate retail industry, set us out on our own running journey:
In 2016 we opened our doors in Bree Street, Cape Town
In 2017 we opened our doors in Bellville, Cape Town
In 2018 we launched our online platform (welcome)
In 2019 who knows where the road will take us next.
No matter where our running story takes us, our goal is to empower our customers to leave our stores and have the confidence to run their own journey.
